Executive Board

Rovena Jasper, Founder and President

An empty nester in 2011, I was determined not to sit around being inactive. So, I began visiting senior centers to fill the void. What I found was elderly men and women sitting around playing bingo, checkers and other games. I immediately realized that I needed more exciting things to do. I definitely wanted more!

As I prayed for direction, God gave me the vision to create active activities for active “Seniors”. And so “Senior’s On The Move” was born.

Eventually, I found other “Seniors” interested in doing more, and they found me. As a group, our first activity was a Senior talent show, in which we mimicked The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, and other revered entertainers of our era. In 2014, we broadened our activities to include events that brought the Atlanta-based “Beulah Boys” male Senior line dance group to Charlotte; then added an annual Cabaret, and Spring fashion show, that are now entering their fifth year. Wow! What a fantastic journey it has been.

The vision God has given me for SOTM is bigger than I could imagine. We have an amazing group of men and women who care about and for one another and who ultimately help fill their need of wanting more.

Seniors On The Move… WE ARE ONE!
